The Hoodia Cactus Plant Hoodia is a genus consisting of 13 species in the flowering plant family called Apocynaceae, and under the subfamily Asclepiadoideae. Theses plants are stem succulents that are described as "cactiform". This is due to their remarkable similarity with the cactus, which is actually an unrelated family. Recently, the Hoodia plant has been harvested and converted into a pill form that you can buy online. The Hoodia plant can grow up to one meter high and frequently has large colorful and pungent flowers. Many Hoodia species are protected plants. This is a typical custom in the Namib Desert where this plant is found. The Namib Desert ranges from Central Namibia to southern Angola. The Hoodia plant is mostly found in the plains and rocky areas. Common names for the Hoodia cactus plant include "Bushman's Hat" and "Queen of the Namib" but the indigenous Bushmen refer to this plant as Xhoba. The unusual flowers are flat and saucer-like in shape and red, purple to brown or mottled dark yellow in color. The short stems are many angled with white spikes appearing at short intervals on each angle. The Hoodia Cactus has been used by the indigenous bush people of South Africa for generations as a natural appetite suppresant and thirst quencher during long hunting trips. This all natural appetite suppressant is now available in the form of a pill. See the ordering page for more information about how you can buy these weight loss supplements online.
